The next European Leadership Embodiment Retreat will be held at the beautiful Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland, in late May 2017. It will be led by Wendy Palmer, the founder of Leadership Embodiment.
At retreats, the LE community comes together for more intensive practice of the LE work. It’s a deeper dive that involves extended 30 minute sitting meditation and longer periods of practicing LE exercises, deepening our practice and our understanding of our own patterns. Therefore, participants are required to have completed a Fundamentals course before joining a retreat.
Samye Ling is the Tibetan Buddhist monastery founded by Akong Rinpoche and Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1967, providing a rich and inspiring background to the practices and learning of leadership, and enhancing a keen awareness that the LE practices are rooted in centuries of practice and stress-testing.

This course allows you to become familiar with your signature response to pressure, and offers you powerful tools to shift to a more creative, skillful and compassionate state. It gives you practices to engage with clarity, creativity and compassion even when you are experiencing conflict and opposition.
The workshop creates an embodied experience – stretching and challenging you to explore the mind-body connection and how it impacts on the way you communicate, collaborate, and pursue your goals. The tools and practices have their roots in the traditions of mindfulness and martial arts, giving immediate physical feedback, powerfully showing up habitual reactive patterns of behaviour. Through physical experience you will discover how you can be more creative, more powerful, and more fully embodied as leaders in your own lives.
We will explore themes such as remaining functional under pressure, becoming comfortable with conflict, and remaining responsive to demands without getting bowed down by them.
Language of the training is English, with clarifications in Dutch when necessary.

This re-energising workshop will take you through the fundamentals of Leadership Embodiment, showing you how to maintain a calm presence even when you have to stand in opposition, how to listen at deeper levels in order to hear underlying requests, and how to stay true to your intentions in the face of resistance. It is suitable to parents, managers, those interested in the capacity of the body to support the mind, and to anyone facing challenges in their daily life.
Participants are given an insight into their own reactive patterns of behaviour under stress, as well as creative responses. It encourages an aligned presence based on what is truly important, building greater resilience.
This embodied experience shows participants how the mind/body connection affects communication, collaboration and success. The tools and practices – derived from mindfulness and martial arts – give immediate physical feedback, powerfully revealing habitual reactive patterns.
Through physical experience participants discover how they can be more creative, more powerful, more fully embodied as leaders of their own lives.

Building on the foundation of the Fundamentals/Level 1 course (which is a prerequisite), the Intermediate/Level 2 course offers participants a deeper dive and more extended opportunity to explore their patterns and centering practice within more challenging exercises.
Because attendees are familiar with the language and principles, we introduce more advanced dynamics into the group. The exercises will continue to be debriefed between individuals and the group.
